The 25-year-old claimed Tegel Take Outs Louisiana-style chicken burger, which comes in a 600g bag for $7 at Woolworths, was the perfect “dupe” of the fast food chain’s version.

“These ‘chicken burgers’ are legit. I’m honestly still in shock at how much this tasted like KFC,” Bec said.

She assembled the burger using five products – the chicken patty, Aldi’s brioche bun, light mayonnaise, pepper and fresh lettuce.

Put it to the test’

“So let’s put it to the test and make an original fillet burger.”

Bec – who’s known for making healthy versions of popular fast food menu items using supermarket products – said the first thing she did was bake the chicken patty in her air fryer for 12 minutes.

This step can also be done in the oven at 200C for 20 to 25 minutes.

For the sauce, she simply combined a “teaspoon of pepper to mayonnaise” to replicate the fast food chain’s signature Pepper Mayo.

“All you have left to do is just toast your buns, add lettuce, and that’s it,” she said.
